More About Me

Well, here goes…

I am a former US Marine infantryman, US Army paratrooper and EOD Tech (Bomb Disposal).

After the military, I worked as a Military contractor and later owned a business in Arizona.

On this site, I am writing to men over 50 years old.

I’m over 60 now, but still remember that 50 was kind of a milestone for me and others I’ve talked to.

It seems like it’s a turning point of some kind that we either realize we haven’t done as much as we would have liked to in our lives or need to adjust our compass heading and move in another direction.

After 50, I think fitness and health play an even more important part in our lives and day to day activity.

We need to get in shape and stay there to have a quality life for the future.

Our lifestyle changes also.

I want to help older guys get back into shape and enjoy life.

At this age, we have a few more aches and pains than our younger selves and need to work around some of those obstacles.

I never had a midlife crisis, because I lived my life with an attitude of trying new things…probably because as I tried new things, I would get bored and move on to something else.

That doesn’t mean I was balls to the wall all of the time, it just means that I was willing to take calculated risks and go down that other path.

I joined the Marine Corps right out of high school. After leaving the military, I moved to Colorado for a year.

A couple of years after that, I found myself in Hawaii as a pro wrestler working for Lia Maivia who was the promoter and also the grandmother of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

With a five year break in service I went back into the military, the Army this time and was with the 82nd Airborne until I went to Explosive Ordnance Disposal School (EOD).

I ended up doing EOD work on the outside for a while and then went back to college and got my degree.

I found out corporate life was not for me and ended up going back into the EOD field when the war in Iraq broke out.

I got a good gig with the Pentagon in Washington, DC as a military contractor.

Then ended up working projects in Iraq and Afghanistan for about 5 years.

Somewhere during that time, I became a Program Manager for an armor company in Arizona.

We specialized in lightweight composite armor for military vehicles and personnel.

Later, I started an online company with a couple of other guys where I obtained 2 design patents.

When I left the company, moving back to WV (where I am originally from) seemed like a good idea.

Along the way, I travelled to over 40 countries and all 50 United States.

I am back here now with family and friends trying new things to see what happens next.

So if you continued reading this far, I hope I didn’t bore you…just wanted to let you know who I am.

At this point I think I should drop a picture of Stella, my Belgian Malinois.

I hope my blog and videos will help you in your journey for fitness and a better life.

Cheers! Matt
